Small Town Punks
Small town punks is perhaps the most personal of Evelyn Kutschera's subculture-based photo projects, documenting a close-knit group of friends who she has been experiencing both good times and life's challenges with since her early 20's.
In 2009, she started documenting a group of friends who she describes as her chosen second family, showing them growing up together and transitioning from youthful rebels to adults who have managed to maintain their commitment to their ideals and lifestyle choices in a small town in Switzerland.
These photos are decidedly diverse- taken in both colour and black and white, on film and in a modern digital format.
The settings range from music festivals to bedrooms and local parks.
This project is Ms. Kutschera's modern take on a coming-of-age story for members of a youth cult learning how to adapt to adulthood.
